Spin Accelerator Program highlights

Sportstech innovation is exploding around the world changing the way athletes are trained, the way fans interact, and creating opportunities for never before seen products and business models.

The SPIN Accelerator, developed by the Hype Sports Innovation, is a global sportstech startup accelerator that delivers a sports-specific program providing access to global mentors, investors and experienced hosts to fast-track promising local startups onto the world stage. SPIN leverages HYPE’s existing sportstech platform which already engages over 9,000 startups and 29,000 sports innovators across the world.

Player performance, AR/VR, fan engagement, wearables, media, smart stadiums, player health and safety, and esports/fantasy sports are all fertile areas for disruption that will benefit through participation in HYPE UQ SPIN Accelerator.

The University of Queensland has been selected by HYPE Sports Innovation to be the exclusive host for SPIN Australia, and will also support startups from surrounding regions with virtual and residential options available. If you are from outside of Australia, the most appropriate SPIN site will be determined by HYPE during the application process.

Sports startups can apply with up to 12 selected for the program. SPIN Australia balances on-site and remote participation. Teams come together for bootcamp, a mid-program review and the final pitch event with virtual delivery of sports-specific curriculum and sports business mentoring from global mentors.

The program culminates in a pitch event at a major Queensland based sporting event with an audience of sports influencers, brands and investors.

The program is proudly supported by the Queensland State Government.
